The movie revolves around Matt (Josh Hartnett), who was and still is obsessed with his ex-girlfriend Nicole (Vinessa Shaw). Although she broke up with Matt months ago, he thinks he can get her back. Matt decides to give up any kind of sexual activity during Lent, which he thinks will give him the right state of mind. However, a few days into his celibacy, he meets an incredible woman and is head over heals for her. Now Matt is running into problems and his friends are not supporting him in his endeavors. His friends rather tease him and even start betting on him not being able to stay celibate.
